Hilton hotel, site of May explosion, about to open

The newest addition to the downtown skyline, the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel, is set to formally open its doors Wednesday.
Construction of the gleaming tower of glass and steel proceeded largely on schedule, despite a May 19 boiler-room explosion that blew out three floors and injured 14 people.
