Because of incorrect caption information supplied by Getty Images, the BMX competitor shown in the lead in a Page A1 photo Friday was misidentified as Jill Kintner of the United States. She did win the bronze medal in the women's event, but the competitor taking the lead in the photo was Mike Day of the United States, who won the silver medal in the men's BMX event. Maris Strombergs of Latvia won gold and Donny Robinson of the United States won bronze.
